Indeed, The Last of Us Part 1’s most explicit improvement is its visuals. This was always evident from its initial announcement trailer, as well as the brief glimpses that leaked thereafter and the subsequent trailers Naughty Dog released to highlight a few of the changes players will notice in the remake. The Last of Us Part 1 is generally much more impressive than the original with regard to graphical fidelity, but there are several particular areas in which the remake’s visuals are most stunning....

9:25 p.m. Novak Djokovic reached his eighth U.S. Open final by beating Kei Nishikori 6-3, 6-4, 6-2. Djokovic is bidding for his third title at Flushing Meadows and 14th Grand Slam trophy overall. Three-time champion Djokovic squeezed in his last-scheduled match on No. 1 Court on Wimbledon’s ‘manic Monday’ just before darkness stopped play. Having played just one of his four matches on Centre Court, Djokovic wants his quarterfinal on Wednesday against Kei Nishikori to be given premier status. As he answered questions in the Serbian portion of his news conference after his victory over Karen Khachanov, Djokovic — via a translator — bemoaned the fact that his great rivals Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have played all of their matches so far on Centre Court....

9:45 p.m. Jeff Gordon has been inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame. The four-time NASCAR champion was the headliner of this 10th class and was elected by 96 percent of the vote in his first year of eligibility. Gordon ranks third on the all-time list with 93 career victories. Gordon was introduced by Kyle Larson, who followed the same career path of his childhood idol by racing sprint cars out of California before migrating to NASCAR....

9:13 p.m. A Rhode Island town voted has voted 3-2 Monday for a resolution to refrain from purchasing Nike products. The North Smithfield Town Council will ask its departments to not buy Nike items. Council President John Beauregard is a former state trooper who is upset with Nike’s decision to use former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick in ads. North Smithfield hasn’t said what it buys from Nike, if anything....
