Meanwhile, there is still no word on a new release date for The Last of Us 2 for the PlayStation 4. In a tweet released by game director Neil Druckmann recently, the dev assured fans that both Naughty Dog and Sony are working hard to ensure that the game will be released as soon as possible. However, Druckmann did not confirm how exactly both companies are going to achieve this, but it is likely that the game will immediately resume development in order for Naughty Dog to get the game out in the market and in the hands of players who have already been waiting for several years now.
Although The Last of Us 2 is on the very final stages of development, Naughty Dog had to delay the game once again due to the growing threat of the coronavirus pandemic. Of course, apart from the stalled production, Naughty Dog also faces logistics and distribution issues with the physical version of the game. Since the announcement of its indefinite delay, The Last of Us 2 has already been removed from the PlayStation Store.
However, to be fair to its consumers, Sony announced that it will be issuing refunds to players who already pre-ordered The Last of Us 2 digitally. The news came from the Sony Support Portal, which revealed that refunds for digital pre-orders of The Last of Us 2 will be made automatically and players who pre-purchased should expect to receive an email that contains instructions for the refund.
The Last of Us 2 has been delayed indefinitely.
