Fans of The Last of Us and Animal Crossing are well aware of how different the two games are. After all, one is a zombie game known for its dark, gripping story and the other a life-sim in which you pay off debt and interact with animal villagers. But, despite the differences between these games, there are many players who are happy to play both of them.

The Last of Us 2 and Animal Crossing: New Horizons are two of the year’s biggest releases, so players are eager to get whatever content they can. Fans have waited years for these games, with The Last of Us, which many consider to be the game of the decade, being released in 2013 and Animal Crossing: New Leaf in 2012. Both communities have been running on the fumes of announcements and fan-made content for quite a while, to say the least.
Animal Crossing has certainly been able to placate fans better than The Last of Us has with the release of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp and the inclusion of of Isabelle in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Fans of The Last of Us, however, haven’t had such luck; not much has been said about The Last of Us 2 as of late since its delay. Really, the only way for fans to get their The Last of Us fix has been through The Last of Us: American Dreams, a comic miniseries released in 2013, or going back to play the first game and its DLC.
Fans of Animal Crossing don’t have to wait long for new content since Animal Crossing: New Horizons is set to be released March 20, but the same can’t be said for The Last of Us fans. After its release being delayed in October of last year, The Last of Us 2 now has a release date of May 29. With more than two months until release, it’s content like this crossover that helps Naughty Dog keep hype up. And maybe it’ll get some Animal Crossing fans to consider The Last of Us 2 in the meantime.
The Last of Us 2 is being released exclusively for PS4 on May 29.
