Seeking to restore all branches of government and end the military occupation of the post-outbreak nation, the Fireflies are singular in their approach to creating a vaccine for the cordyceps fungus, willing to go to any length to obtain one. Their revolutionary antics within the quarantine zones lead to many of their numbers dwindling, and Joel can find what remains of them by looking for their pendants along his journey.

The Quarantine Zone | Beyond the Wall
Pendant 1 of 2 | David Michael Vigil
As Joel and Tess exit the tunnels on the way outside the quarantine zone, they’ll enter a pizza shop via a hatch in the floor. Exiting the building, the pair will cross a small square and find a ladder to climb to an apartment building. Inside, walk past the pool table and kitchen and enter a bedroom; this pendant can be found by a mattress there.
Pendant 2 of 2 | Ben Glueck
After the pair make their way through some spore-filled offices with some Runners, Joel will help Tess cross a gap in a dilapidated building. After leaving that building, follow Tess around a corner, under a broken walkway, and stop in front of a tree in a small square; the Ben Glueck Firefly pendant can be shot down from one of the tree’s branches.
The Quarantine Zone | The Cargo

Much later in the chapter, Joel and Tess will meet with Marlene, leader of the Fireflies. After fighting through some FEDRA soldiers, the trio will make their way to a store where a cutscene will play introducing Ellie. As soon as the player regains control of Joel, head forward across the parking lot to find a corpse slouched next to a parking meter; this next Firefly pendant can be found next to it.
