Fans are waiting for the Madden NFL 22 reveal for a number of reasons. One big reason is that they want to see if EA Sports keeps its promise of improving Madden’s Franchise mode in the new game. But another reason is that fans are anxious to learn Madden NFL 22’s cover athlete.

EA Sports has teased that it is doing “something different” with Madden NFL 22’s cover athlete. However, there’s a conspiracy theory going around that the reason why EA Sports is taking so long to reveal Madden NFL 22 is because the cover athlete is going to be Aaron Rodgers. As it stands, Aaron Rodgers’ future with the Green Bay Packers is in limbo, which is one possible explanation a to why the game still has yet to have its proper unveiling.

Conspiracy theories aside, the Madden NFL 22 cover athlete and more should come to light soon, with one date in particular seeming like the most obvious.

EA Play

On July 22, EA will be hosting its annual EA Play presentation. Typically the EA Play event coincides with E3, but EA is doing things a little differently this year, for whatever reason. Fans of EA’s games can expect updates on the big in-development EA titles, which should include its annual sports games. With Madden NFL 22’s release date likely in August, it’s safe to say that the game will be at the show.

If it hasn’t been revealed by then, the most obvious reveal date for Madden NFL 22 would be the EA Play event on July 22. However, that would only give EA a few weeks to properly market the game, and so that seems a little unlikely. Perhaps a more likely scenario is that EA Sports will reveal Madden NFL 22 at some point between now and the EA Play event, but offer the first in-depth look at the game come July 22.

Ultimately, until EA Sports reveals its plans in regards to Madden NFL 22, all fans can do is speculate. Hopefully EA provides some more information on the matter sooner rather than later so the speculation can be put to rest.

Madden NFL 22 is in development for unspecified platforms.
