In a roundtable discussion about The Mandalorian during the online ATX-TV festival, Favreau revealed that the series had already finished filming before things had to be shut down because of coronavirus, “We were lucky enough to have finished photography before the lockdown, so thanks to how technology-forward Lucasfilm and ILM are, we’ve been able to do all the editing visual effects remotely.” He also confirmed that season 2 of The Mandalorian, “will be available as planned on Disney+ in October.” The Mandalorian was originally slated by Disney to be out in October, and series cinematographer Baz Idoine did confirm a wrap on filming in March, but it is still nice to have an official confirmation on when Season 2 will be released.

Two other high-profile Disney+ series that were also supposed to come out this year but might be as lucky are Marvel’s The Falcon And The Winter Soldier and Wandavision. Those two series were slated to be released in August and December respectively, but both have apparently suffered production delays due to Coronavirus. However, Disney has yet to officially delay either so fans should keep their fingers crossed.

Fans should be very excited for The Mandalorian season 2, as several loved Star Wars characters are going to be making appearances, including Clone Wars’ Bo Katan Kryze and another, even more surprising, fan favorite.

The Mandalorian is available to stream on Disney+.
